The number of dead pigs found floating in a river flowing into Shanghai has reached nearly 6,000. The Shanghai municipal government said that 5,916 swine carcasses had been retrieved from the Huangpu River by 3 p.m. Tuesday, but that the city water remained safe. Earlier reports said more than 3,300 pigs had been found in the river.
